| Quotation and technical clarification on modification from 50hz to 60hz hfo alternator

Here is the reply to your questions and other issues we believe which will be helpful to you.
We are one of the largest hfo alternator and other kind of middle speed alternator producer with ability to design, manufacturing, repairing, and modifying on these generators. During the last 30 years, we have manufactured and modified many units of 50hz and 60hz alternators for hfo engines imported from other MAN, sulzer, Wartsila, and we also modified many units from 60hz to 50hz, from 50hz to 60hz, with so many experience.
To our experience, if the technology for modifying from 50hz 60hz, voltage from 11kv to 13.8kv is very mature and reliable even without changing the original alternator’s dimension, installation dimension, and exciting structure. Generally speaking, the capacity of the modified generator can reach 80% to 100% of that of the original 50hz generator.
The modification is to redesign new field, according to the final demand of the frequency, voltage and the alternator design and manufacturing standards. The key points are that the speed and rotational inertia of the expected generator should be as near as that of the original generator, so when designing the modification plan, we should redesign and manufacture stator core (depending on the different models when necessary), the stator windings, the main rotor pole core, a rotor winding, rotor support.
For the original alternator, only these parts are used in the final modified alternator: motor casing (base), the base, shaft, bearings, exciter, lubrication system, and control system. Other parts have to be replaced newly manufactured parts. This can greatly reduce the total costs and delivery time of the alternators.
For the modification, the buyer should provide the technical parameters of the original generators, these key data should be provided are: slot numbers of the generator’s stator, slot dimension (width and depth), internal diameter of stator’s core, length of the core, then we can redesign and manufacture to provide the final alternators.
Other issues:
During The Modification, new Main Field Rotor with 14 Poles will be put into the generator and replace the 12 poles.
Normally the over speed is designed our national standard which is 120% of the nominal speed.
We provide the same warranty as the brand new alternator’s warranty, which is 12 months after delivery.
You are suggested to provide all the technical datasheet with key data for modification so that we can quote you according to the available used alternators, such as your mentioned: Many in our Inventory list are 50Hz 750RPM 50Hz to 720RPM60Hz Niigata > 6.2Mw x 4 units 6.3KV from 8 poles to 10 Poles Main Rotor Field.
