NEMA Premium General Purpose Motors

The Energy Saver NEMA Premium Efficient design meets CSA-Motors and C-390, UL-Component & Insulation System Recognition and CE mark for the 320 frame and smaller.

·        Meets NEMA MG1 table 12-12 premium efficiency levels. Tested per IEEE Standard 112, Test Method B.

·        The insulation system meets NEMA MG1-31 standards for motors operating on Inverter power at 460 or 575 volts.

·        Includes a 10:1 variable torque along with a 4:1 constant torque speed range.

·        The frame, end shields, fan cover and conduit box are a rugged cast iron construction.

·        A recessed steel-reinforced neoprene slinger minimizes contaminants from entering the bearing cavity.

NEMA Premium Extra Severe Duty Motors

XSD Ultra technology meets an ISO 1940 Grade 1.0 Precision Plus balance to 0.04 in/sec results for smooth, reliable operation and long bearing life.

Standard Class H GEGARD insulation system is designed to excel in variable frequency drive applications where lesser designs often short circuit and cause overcurrent trips.

Built for a long 130,000 hour L10 direct connected and 26,280 hour L10 belted bearing life without life adjusting factors.

Complete Test per MG1 Part 12 IEEE Standard 112, Test Method B on 2% of all production. Verification of compliance and routine test report supplied with every XSD Ultra motor. Each 841 motor comes with its own test report demonstrating performance compliant with the IEEE 841-2009 specification.

Stock XSD Ultra motors can be UL listed, CSA listed, or GE self-certified for Division 2 locations or modified to meet ATEX Zone 2 or CE requirements.

A complete upgrade, Ultra Series vertical pump motors combine all the benefits of rugged and reliable XSD Ultra materials with advanced thrust and cooling technologies. All ratings of the Ultra family are fully inverter-duty exceeding NEMA MG1-31 requirements. Ultra Series vertical pump motors are completely NEMA premium efficient, meeting IEEE 841 levels with a full cast iron frame, inline, high thrust, space heaters, and a non-reverse ratchet. Industry Leading Coil Insulation System

GE pump motors are manufactured standard with a GEGARD2400 insulation system. This system exceeds NEMA MG1-31 (which is 3.1 times the nameplate voltage) for motors operating on inverters. This insulation system is comprised of class H materials. The combination of this and the varnish process provides a typical Corona Inception Voltage of 2400 volts peak with a rise time of 0.1 seconds.

Innovative Patented Air-Cooling Technology

Our engineers found a better way to air cool bearings in larger frame TEFC motors. The design improvements result in an amazing ~30 degrees C temperature reduction helping to dramatically extend bearing and winding life.

Durability

With a class H insulation, cast aluminum top hat, multi-direction cast in lifting lugs, oversized cast iron conduit box, aluminum anti-rodent screens and heavy-duty cast-iron frame, the WPI Ultra is the most robust vertical hollow shaft motor in the industry.

Operational Efficiency

GE high thrust vertical pump motors have, on average, 20% higher thrust and extended performance than any other similar product in the industry.  As a result, motors in all deep well applications can be air-cooled with any bearing configuration.

We are constantly making improvements in component and manufacturing standardization. The Ultra Series TEFC and WPI designs use many of same components and all make use of proven XSD Ultra electrical designs resulting in some of the fastest custom cycle times in the industry.

The hollow shaft high thrust design is intended for deep-well pump applications. Solid shaft motors are designed to operate in pump applications including in-line, booster, centrifugal, non-clog, and vertical turbines under extreme conditions for the petrochemical, pulp and paper, waste-water treatment and material processing industries.

IE3 Severe Duty Motors

Proven reliability in the most demanding process industry environments
XSD Ultra 841 IEC technology meets or exceeds IE3/NEMA Premium nominal efficiencies and exceeds all IEC/NEMA Premium minimum guaranteed efficiencies. Each motor comes with its own test report demonstrating performance compliant with the IEEE 841 specification, but with IEC construction and designs.

A five-year warranty comes standard with every XSD Ultra 841 IEC motor (60 months operational/66 months maximum from shipment).

Overall vibration is 1.4 mm/sec (0.55 inches per second) vs 0.08 inches (0.06 for 8 pole) per second per IEEE 841. This helps to extend the life of the motor and the connected equipment.

Total shaft runout is 0.025 mm (0.001�? for shaft diameters up to 41 mm and 0.038 mm (0.0015�? for shaft diameters greater than 41 mm for ball bearing machines.

GEGARD insulation systems feature Class H insulation materials. This system increases motor protection against IGBT drive voltage spikes which exceed NEMA MG1-31 standards.

Fire Pump Motors

GEIM is authorized to manufacture fire pump motors per UL File E47088, Vol. 9, Sec. 1 (under Fire Pump QXZF and Inverter Duty PRHJ). A stainless steel embossed nameplate is bolted to each machine.

Fire pump motors sit dormant for many months of the year and may be subject to temperature and barometric changes, especially with outdoor applications. This environment causes condensation to collect on metal surfaces promoting corrosion and leading to unexpected failures. Optional space heaters can be wrapped around the winding coils. They work like an electric blanket transferring a small electric current into heat to keep the motor warm, dry and ready to start when operators need them most.

Class H GEGARD insulation system is designed to excel in severe environments and challenging applications where lesser designs often short circuit and cause overcurrent trips.

Mill Duty DC Motors

This low base speed, high torque motor is used in high performance, automatic control systems that require a fast-transient response. These motors are ideal for use in steel plants, excavating equipment, shipyard cranes, coal and ore dock cranes. They operate well in constant potential or adjustable voltage drive systems with either rectified power supplies or motor-generator sets.

MD80 motors meet standards established by the Association of Iron and Steel Technology (AIST).

  • Heavy-duty, double tapered shaft is removable and replaceable.
