1. Overview
The Plant has a gross capacity of 165 MW and a capacity of 157 MW net of power consumed by the plant auxiliaries. The plant consists of three numbers of GE,USA make liquid fuel fired LM 6000PC Aero Derivative Gas Turbine Generators (GTG) of 43 MW each fitted with inlet air chillers , three numbers of horizontal ,unfired ,dual pressure Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG) supplied by Thermax, India and a Steam Turbine Generator (STG) of 36 MW supplied by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) ,India. STG is having a water cooled condenser.
The entire project including the 110 KV switchyard is located in about 20 acres of land. The plant has an excellent and proven track record of maintaining availability in excess of 95% for the last 15 years. Gas turbines were packaged and commissioned by erstwhile Stewart and Stevenson ,USA.
The main fuel for the plant is Naphtha and start up of the plant is using High Speed Diesel (HSD) .Naphtha is burnt in the GTG combustion chamber while admitting air compressed at a ratio of 1:2.5 at LP compressor and 1:12 at HP compressor, making an effective compression ratio of 1:30. The high pressure and high temperature product of the combustion drives a 2 stage HP turbine and a 5 stage LP turbine. The exhaust gas from LP turbine at 450 deg C is fed to HRSGs and leaves at about 120 deg C through 40 meter stack. The heat recovered is used to generate steam is HRSG to run the 36 MW STG.
